Bowling Green State University Offers In-State Tuition to Wayne County Students
For students eager to pursue higher education out of state but still want to remain close to family, Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in Ohio presents an appealing opportunity. Starting in the Fall of 2025, BGSU will extend a scholarship that covers the out-of-state tuition of $7,988 for undergraduates from Wayne County, Michigan.
This initiative builds upon a previously launched program in 2022, which initially targeted incoming and transfer students from Lenawee and Monroe counties. Erin Heilmeier, the director of admissions at BGSU, highlighted the growing interest among prospective students in the university’s expanding academic offerings.
“One of the things we found while researching Wayne County and the students who have historically come to BGSU is their interest in the programs we’re looking to grow,” Heilmeier remarked. “Programs where we have room to expand. We’re excited to support students exploring those fields. Nursing, business, psychology, and engineering are all strong programs for us.”
Eligibility for the scholarship requires students to be first-time applicants or transfer students with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0, an ACT score of at least 20, or an SAT score of 1040. Those who qualify will benefit from the scholarship for up to 12 consecutive semesters, as outlined by The Falcon Tuition Guarantee.
In addition to waiving the out-of-state tuition costs, the scholarship also encompasses expenses related to housing and meal plans, offering a comprehensive financial package for eligible students.
