Athens Police Arrest Three More Suspects in Antonio Jewell’s Murder

Additional Arrests Made in Death Investigation

Three More Arrested in Connection to November Homicide in Athens-Clarke County

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has taken further action in the investigation of a fatal incident that occurred earlier this month. In what has become a complex case, the department announced the arrest of three additional individuals linked to the death of 22-year-old Antonio Jewell.

On November 24, police detained 19-year-old Demetris Allen and 18-year-old Christian Hull, both residents of Athens. The following day, 19-year-old Chedric Stroud, also from Athens, was apprehended. All three face charges including murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and involvement in criminal street gang activity.

The incident unfolded on November 6, 2025, when authorities responded to a distress call on Madison Avenue at approximately 8:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Jewell, a Winterville resident, unresponsive. Despite the efforts of EMS and the ACC Fire Department to administer life-saving procedures, Jewell was pronounced dead at the scene.

This recent development follows the earlier arrests of three other suspects in connection with the same case. Earlier in the month, authorities arrested Samtavious Clarke, 23, along with 18-year-olds Jeremiah Gresham and Dion Nesbitt, all hailing from Athens, on similar charges.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with further information to reach out. Detective Harrison can be contacted via email at David.Harrision@accgov.com or by phone at 762-400-7361. Detective Lister is also available for contact at Hovie.Lister@accgov.com or 762-400-7333.
