Authorities Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Pedestrian Killed in Athens Traffic Incident

Authorities are reaching out to the Athens community for assistance in identifying a pedestrian who tragically lost his life in a recent traffic collision. The incident occurred at the bustling intersection of US Highway 29 and Highway 17, capturing the attention of local law enforcement.

On a Sunday evening, a 2017 Nissan Versa, traveling northbound, struck a pedestrian crossing Highway 29. The impact was fatal, and the pedestrian sadly died at the scene.

Law enforcement noted that before the accident, the victim was last seen at a nearby dining establishment. He was wearing a distinctive black hoodie and a t-shirt featuring a neon dinosaur logo.

The driver involved, a 33-year-old resident of Hull, GA, has been taken into custody. He faces charges of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Homicide by Vehicle in the 1st Degree.
