Greensboro’s Doorway Project Relocates to Pomona Park

In a significant move for supporting those experiencing homelessness, Greensboro’s Doorway Project will relocate to Pomona Park starting the week of October 27. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to offer temporary accommodations and assistance to individuals without a stable living situation.

The Doorway Project operates under the umbrella of the Community Safety Department. This department not only focuses on providing temporary shelters but also engages in outreach efforts, crisis management, and connects people with further support networks.

Launched three years ago, the Doorway Project was recognized as the first of its kind in North Carolina, setting up a temporary shelter community. Initially, it was only available during the colder months of fall and winter, but due to its success, it has now been expanded to offer services throughout the year, including spring and summer.

The project offers a variety of temporary housing solutions, including 30 two-person pallet homes and five RV trailers. Beyond shelter, it plays a pivotal role in helping individuals transition into permanent housing solutions.
