Exploring Nevada’s Housing Challenges: A Collaborative Radio Series
In an unprecedented collaboration, Nevada’s two public radio stations, KUNR and KNPR, have launched a joint investigative series titled “Does Home Mean Nevada?” The series, involving six reporters, delves into pressing issues such as escalating rent and property prices, the impact of wildfires on homeowners insurance, and the challenges faced by Nevadans desiring to reside in cherished locales.
The findings of this series were shared during a public forum held at the University of Nevada, Reno on October 22. This event was recorded as a special episode of Purple Politics Nevada, providing listeners with an edited hour-long broadcast capturing the essence of the discussions.
Participants in this forum included KUNR’s political reporter Lucia Starbuck, Lake Tahoe reporter Maria Palma, and reporting intern Mariel Day. They were joined by KNPR’s political reporter and producer Paul Boger and Indigenous affairs reporter and producer Jimmy Romo.
The audio for this series was produced and edited by KUNR’s Senior Correspondent Bert Johnson.
