Funding Available for Private Road and Bridge Repairs in Western NC
Residents of Western North Carolina have a new opportunity to ease the financial burden of repairing private roads and bridges damaged by Hurricane Helene. The state has introduced a reimbursement program that promises to cover 50% of documented repair costs.
This financial aid is specifically available for those residing in counties declared disaster areas, such as Watauga, Ashe, and Wilkes. To qualify for the reimbursement, eligible residents must submit their applications within a six-month window.
An essential requirement for receiving funds is an on-site review of the completed repair work, as stated in a recent news release. This step ensures that the repairs meet the necessary standards before any financial compensation is granted.
The state has allocated a substantial $25 million for this initiative, aiming to restore access to private properties and support community recovery efforts. The program represents a significant commitment to assisting residents in their rebuilding efforts following the hurricane’s impact.
