For Aubry, leading workout classes is much more than physical fitness; it’s about fostering a sense of belonging, encouraging positivity, and creating a community.

Having spent years participating in fitness classes at VASA Fitness in her hometown, Aubry explored various exercises such as Zumba, dance, HIGH Fitness, Pilates, and SilverSneakers. Yet, it was UpBeat Barre, a blend of cardio, strength training, Pilates, and yoga, that captured her passion, prompting her to master and eventually teach the routines.

Jane Johnson, Aubry’s instructor, noticed her exceptional ability to learn and remember choreography. “She has an incredible brain,” Johnson told KSL. “Aubry can learn choreography so fast, and she retains it.” Inspired by her talent and enthusiasm, Aubry pursued certification.

Her debut as an instructor took place before an audience of over 60 people, where she expressed her love for being on stage, exercising, and connecting with others. “I love to be on stage. I love exercise. I loved to wear my mic and say every cue,” she said. “I want to help everyone feel included.”

During her class, Aubry engaged with participants by offering high-fives and words of encouragement, making sure everyone felt welcome. This interaction is something she cherishes deeply.

“I love to be with people, and there was a full crowd!” she enthused.

Johnson emphasized the importance of inclusivity within UpBeat Barre, noting how Aubry’s ambitions aligned perfectly with this mission. “Finding ways to be inclusive has been one of our missions,” Johnson stated. “We were just delighted when Aubry wanted to be an instructor because she holds those values.”

VASA Fitness is now working to establish Aubry as an official instructor in Kaysville. Her inaugural class has already garnered her a supportive following. “Aubry is a light, and she brings so much joy to so many people,” Johnson said. “I think it shows that she can work hard to do anything, and I think it shows other people that they can work hard to do anything they set their minds to as well.”
