In an effort to enhance infrastructure and safety, a significant slope stabilization project is set to commence along Nichols Drive, a picturesque area adjacent to the Huron River and just north of the scenic Nichols Arboretum. This project aims to address ongoing concerns related to road stability and safety for pedestrians and drivers alike.
Comprehensive Roadwork Initiative Along Nichols Drive
Set to begin with preliminary tree removal and the installation of temporary lighting in March, the project will extend through the fall. This comprehensive initiative will necessitate the closure of Nichols Drive starting in April, ensuring that the area can be efficiently navigated by construction teams.
The planned enhancements include not only roadway repairs but also the erection of a new retaining wall. Additionally, upgrades will be made to sidewalks, curbs, and fencing, while lighting improvements will further enhance the safety and aesthetics of the area.
