A tragic event unfolded in Archbald early Monday morning, leading to the investigation of a suspicious death by the Lackawanna County coroner. The incident, which has left the community in mourning, resulted in the death of a young local resident.
Tyvon Ash, a 19-year-old from Scranton, succumbed to a single gunshot wound to the chest, as confirmed by Coroner Tim Rowland. The determination of the cause of death awaits further investigation by law enforcement.
Details are sparse at this time, with Rowland noting that Ash passed away in the emergency department of Geisinger Community Medical Center following an event that began in Archbald.
Additional information will be shared upon the completion of the ongoing investigation, Rowland assured.
Ash, who had previously graduated from Scranton High School and earned his plumbing certification from the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County, was employed at Cooper’s Seafood House in Scranton, according to a GoFundMe page established to assist with funeral expenses.
The restaurant expressed its sorrow through a statement on Facebook, saying, “The Cooper’s family is heartbroken by the sudden loss of a beloved member of our team. Our hearts are with his family, friends, coworkers, and everyone whose life he touched. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, we are not sharing any additional information at this time. We ask everyone to please respect their privacy during this unimaginable time.”
