Athens-Clarke County Seeks Public Feedback on Judicial Center Design
In an effort to engage the local community, the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government is inviting residents to provide their input on the design aspects of the upcoming Judicial Center. A public meeting is set to take place, allowing community members to voice their thoughts on the building’s exterior and communal areas.
Scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the meeting will be held at the Dougherty Street Government Building Auditorium, located at 120 W. Dougherty Street. Residents are welcome to attend at any time during the meeting to share their insights and suggestions.
The decision to proceed with the Judicial Center’s location was approved by the Mayor and Commission earlier this month. The project, funded through SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) as approved by voters, is anticipated to exceed $200 million in costs.
While the construction of the Judicial Center is slated to commence in early 2028, this meeting represents an early stage in the planning process, focusing on community involvement to shape the future of the facility.
