Guilford County Behavioral Health Center: A Vital Resource for Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment
Since its opening in June 2021, the Guilford County Behavioral Health Center has become an essential facility for providing immediate care for individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. The center is dedicated to serving people of all ages, including children, teenagers, and adults.
In the past year, the center reported a significant impact, with over 20,000 individuals receiving care. The facility’s urgent care services accounted for more than 12,000 visits, while the adult outpatient clinic saw 18,000 visits, highlighting its role in the community.
During a recent meeting, Guilford County Commissioners expressed their appreciation for the center’s dedicated work. To further emphasize the importance of mental health, the commissioners have declared May 2026 as “Mental Health Awareness Month.”
Commissioner Kay Cashion remarked on the center’s impact, stating, “Thousands of residents each year seek treatment and support for mental health conditions, underscoring the importance of community awareness, early intervention, and accessible care.”
The center operates around the clock, providing services to those in need without requiring appointments, ensuring that help is always available when it is needed most.
