April 28, 2026
A remarkable crowdfunding effort spearheaded by a 23-year-old Polish streamer has captivated national attention. The initiative, which unfolded over nine consecutive days, amassed over 250 million zlotys (equivalent to $68 million USD) to support children battling cancer, breaking a global fundraising record.

The impressive feat was the vision of Piotr Hancke, who is better known by his online moniker, Łatwogang. His original objective was to gather 500,000 zlotys (approximately $130,000 USD) for the Cancer Fighters Foundation. However, the endeavor quickly gained traction as millions rallied behind it, pushing contributions well beyond initial expectations.
The live stream originated from Łatwogang’s Warsaw apartment and lasted for nine uninterrupted days. The duration of the stream was uniquely determined by TikTok engagement, with every like on one of his posts translating to an additional second of streaming.
Central to the stream was the continuous play of “I’m Still Here,” a moving song by Polish rapper Bedoes 2115 and 11-year-old cancer patient Maja Mecan. The track, which serves as a defiant rap aimed at cancer, resonated deeply with the audience.
Maja’s poignant words in the song, “If you suffer from cancer just like me, this song is for you. I’m still here… and I’m not going anywhere,” echoed throughout the campaign.
The event drew numerous celebrities who contributed their support. Among them was Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who interacted via video call, delivering an impromptu performance while humorously addressing his Polish pronunciation.

Key figures in sports, including Robert Lewandowski, participated by sharing dance videos and significant financial contributions, reportedly over £200,000. Footballer Wojciech Szczęsny and tennis star Iga Świątek also offered their support through videos and donations of Wimbledon tickets.
In solidarity with young cancer patients, several participants shaved their heads, including Łatwogang himself.
The event peaked with over 1.5 million simultaneous viewers as the campaign concluded emotionally with cancer patients joining the final moments.
This campaign surpassed the previous record set by French streamers a year prior. Despite the impressive funds raised, organizers emphasize that the focus remains on supporting families facing the challenges of cancer. The Cancer Fighters Foundation has committed to transparency, ensuring public access to donation allocations via a dedicated website.
Following the event, both Łatwogang and Bedoes expressed their gratitude, describing the fundraiser as a nationwide act of empathy. “We ask the media to publicize the fundraiser and the awareness that cancer is not a death sentence,” they declared. “Because that is all we care about.”
