The Shortlist for the Reader-Led Libraro Literary Prize Unveiled
The innovative Libraro literary prize, conceived to help talented authors bypass traditional publishing obstacles, has unveiled its shortlist. Breaking away from the conventional route, this unique prize empowers readers with the responsibility of rallying behind promising, up-and-coming writers.
The Libraro prize is pioneering a shift in the discovery of novel authors, providing enthusiastic readers, not just publishing gatekeepers, with an active role in showcasing emerging literary talent.
The first-ever shortlist for the Libraro prize includes six unpublished novels. The winner stands to gain £50,000 and a valuable book deal with top publisher Hachette UK. However, it’s not only authors who benefit. Readers are also rewarded, with a £10,000 prize reserved for the reader who unearthed the winning piece.
“The effectiveness of people power is undeniable,” stated David Roche, the chairman of the Libraro literary platform. “We anticipated a high level of interest, but the superior quality of entries and the supportive community that has emerged exceed our expectations. We eagerly anticipate welcoming more writers and readers and discovering more potential bestsellers.”
The Libraro prize shortlist includes the following novels: ‘The Last Canary,’ a sci-fi novel by Ben Daniels; ‘Yours, Everlasting,’ a WWII love story by Natalie Gordon; ‘Sheep’s Clothing,’ a lyrical fable by Donna Fisher; ‘Love Lost,’ a heartfelt portrayal of a broken family by Mary Minnock; ‘An Oath of Malice,’ a thrilling crime novel by B Robinson; and TJ Windwood’s fantasy tale of a world on the brink, ‘The Lost Zodiac.’
The Libraro literary prize will announce the winner on 13 May.
