Oconee County Board of Education approves new leadership roles 

Leadership Changes in Oconee County Education System

Significant leadership appointments were made by the Oconee County Board of Education in their recent work session on April 13th. Nicole Elkins and Kristin Harrison took on pivotal roles, aiming to enhance the educational experience within the county.

Nicole Elkins has been named the Executive Director of Special Education. Her extensive experience includes working as an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist in Catoosa County and serving as an adjunct professor at the University of West Georgia. Additionally, Elkins has coordinated services for students with disabilities and taught special education at both South Paulding and Social Circle middle schools.

Kristin Harrison, appointed as the Director of Secondary Education, brings over two decades of educational expertise to her new position. Prior to this role, she was the principal of Malcom Bridge Middle since 2023 and has taught science as well as Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education classes at Oconee County High School.

Dr. Melissa Butler, Superintendent of Oconee County, remarked on the appointments by stating that both Elkins and Harrison are exemplary leaders who have consistently shown dedication to their work and a strong commitment to supporting students and staff.
