Unexpected Spring Snowstorm to Hit Eastern Nebraska
Residents of eastern Nebraska might find themselves reaching for their snow shovels once again. A surprise snowstorm is anticipated to bring significant snowfall to the region, starting late Monday night and extending into Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for seven counties in the area, including Douglas and Sarpy. This advisory will be in effect from 10 p.m. Monday until 1 p.m. Tuesday. According to forecasts, the region could experience 2-4 inches of wet snow, with localized areas potentially receiving up to 6 inches.
In a recent bulletin, the weather service advised, “Plan on slippery road conditions,” adding that the “hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute.” The snowfall is expected to be concentrated in a narrow band impacting extreme eastern Nebraska. While Columbus may receive around an inch of snow, Lincoln is not expected to see any significant accumulation.
Fortunately, the snow isn’t predicted to linger for long. Omaha’s temperatures are set to hover around 40 degrees on Tuesday, with a notable warm-up to the upper 60s anticipated by Wednesday.
