Forsyth Educators Host Public Dialogue on Budget with School Board

Forsyth educators to host budget conversation with school board

The Forsyth County Association of Educators is actively engaging with local school board members in a bid to address key budgetary concerns. A public conversation has been organized to facilitate this dialogue, scheduled for next Tuesday.

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools are currently formulating a local funding request to present to the county commission. The superintendent is preparing to put forth a recommendation to the school board by April 14.

Prior to this recommendation, the Forsyth County Association of Educators aims to discuss the district’s critical needs with the school board members. The focus is on securing additional staff, particularly in the exceptional children department, which has suffered significant cutbacks due to the district’s financial challenges. Furthermore, they advocate for fair compensation for staff undertaking additional responsibilities.

Six out of the nine board members have confirmed their attendance for this important discussion. The event is set to take place at Carver High School on Tuesday, April 7, from 6 to 8 p.m.
