Winston-Salem breaks ground on next two phases of major housing project

Major Step Forward for Affordable Housing in Winston-Salem with New Construction Phases

In a significant move towards addressing housing needs, Winston-Salem officials have initiated the next stages of a transformative affordable housing endeavor. The Choice Neighborhood Initiative, aimed at rejuvenating the Cleveland Avenue area, has reached a new milestone with the commencement of construction for 114 mixed-income housing units on New Hope Lane.

“We’ve committed to rebuilding not only housing, but opportunity, stability and dignity,” stated Ted Ortiviz, Executive Director of ASPIRE, emphasizing the project’s far-reaching goals. “With phase two and phase three, we’re delivering on that commitment in a very tangible way.”

These new housing units are part of a broader strategy to enhance community living conditions, with completion anticipated in 2027. This development marks a pivotal step in the ongoing efforts to provide sustainable and inclusive housing options in the area.
