Tragic Car Crash in Athens Claims Life of Local Resident
In a somber turn of events, Athens-Clarke County is grappling with another fatal car accident that has claimed the life of a local resident. The incident occurred on March 6th at the intersection of Cedar Shoals Drive and Whit Davis Road.
According to police reports, the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree. Rochelle Jones, the driver and only person in the car, initially appeared to have suffered minor injuries. However, after being transported to the hospital by emergency medical services, the severity of her injuries became apparent. Tragically, Jones passed away on March 11th.
This tragic event marks the third fatal collision in Athens for the year 2026.
