Close Race in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School Board Election Leads to Recount
In the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County at-large school board race, a tight competition led to a recount request by candidate Linda Winikoff following the Democratic primary election. Winikoff was trailing Elisabeth Motsinger by a slim margin of approximately 100 votes, which represented less than 1% of the total votes cast.
The Forsyth County Board of Elections conducted a recount on Wednesday night, but the outcome remained unchanged. As a result, Elisabeth Motsinger will move forward to the general election, alongside fellow candidates Ronda Mays and Valerie Brockenbrough.
Following the recount, Linda Winikoff expressed her gratitude to the board of elections officials for their diligence. In a statement shared on social media, she congratulated the advancing candidates and reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for the school system as a member of the community.
