Nebraska Dominates Richmond with Third-Quarter Surge
Nebraska’s women’s basketball team made a decisive statement in the second half of their NCAA Tournament play-in game against Richmond, securing a commanding victory on Wednesday night. The Huskers, holding a slim lead at halftime, unleashed an offensive onslaught in the third quarter that the Spiders could not counter.
Entering halftime with a narrow 34-32 advantage, the 11th-seeded Huskers turned up the heat against Richmond, outscoring them 27-6 in the third quarter. This explosive performance gave Nebraska a comfortable 61-38 lead, which they maintained to seal a 75-56 win. Richmond was unable to close the gap further as the game progressed.
Overall, Nebraska showcased impressive shooting skills, hitting 57% of their shots from the field and an impressive 50% from beyond the arc. Britt Prince played a pivotal role in the victory, leading the team with 22 points, while Callin Hake contributed 14 points to the scoreboard.
With this win, Nebraska’s record improved to 19-12, earning them a spot in the first round against sixth-seeded Baylor. This matchup is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday and will be broadcast on ESPN.
For Richmond, the loss marked the end of a strong season, leaving them with a final record of 26-8.
