Georgia House Approves Temporary Gas Tax Suspension
In a recent legislative move, the Georgia House of Representatives approved House Bill 1199 on March 18th, potentially providing relief to drivers by suspending the state’s motor fuel tax for two months. The bill now awaits consideration by the state senate.
As reported by AAA, the current average gas price in Athens stands at $3.79 per gallon, a noticeable increase from last year’s $2.93. This surge in fuel prices is largely attributed to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, affecting global oil markets.
Should the bill receive approval from the senate and the signature of Governor Kemp, residents could see a reduction in gas prices in a matter of days.
