Winter Storm Wreaks Havoc in Wisconsin: Travel Warnings Issued
As a fierce winter storm sweeps across Wisconsin, the Department of Transportation has urged motorists to avoid travel in the state’s northwestern, north central, and northeastern regions. Hazardous road conditions from heavy snowfall continue to pose significant risks.
The National Weather Service has placed a blizzard warning over two-thirds of the state, effective until Monday afternoon. Snow continues to blanket highways, with further accumulation expected.
As of Sunday at 10 a.m., both directions of I-94 in Jackson County were obstructed, leaving many alternative routes around the interstate impassable. “Depending on location, travel could be very difficult to impossible. Blowing snow could result in drifting across roadways and reduced visibility,” the agency stated.

Meanwhile, parts of western and central Wisconsin have recorded snowfall of over 20 inches. Wausau saw its daily snowfall record shattered, as reported by WSAW, with more snow anticipated.
In southern Wisconsin, a winter storm warning remains in effect, with forecasts predicting a mix of rain, sleet, and snow.
In response to the severe weather, Gov. Tony Evers declared a state of emergency on Saturday as the storm loomed.
Snowfall is anticipated to gradually diminish throughout Monday.
