In a striking turn of events, the Madison Police Department is on the lookout for Morgan Geyser, a woman previously involved in a notorious case linked to a fictional horror figure. Geyser, who was convicted for a shocking crime in her youth, has reportedly removed her ankle monitor and disappeared from a group home.
The case dates back to 2014 when then-12-year-old Morgan Geyser and her friend Anissa Weier were propelled into the national spotlight. They orchestrated a brutal attack on their sixth-grade classmate, Payton Leutner, stabbing her 19 times in a bid to win favor with the fictional character Slender Man. The girls’ actions were reportedly driven by a belief in the online horror myth.
In 2018, Geyser was sentenced to a 40-year term in a psychiatric facility. However, after serving a portion of her sentence, she received conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute and was moved to a group home under court orders in July.
According to a post on Facebook by the Madison Police Department, Geyser severed her Department of Corrections ankle monitor and vanished from the group home on a Saturday night. The authorities acknowledged her location as unknown as of Sunday, urging the public to contact 911 if they encounter her.
