Virginia Rep. Kiggans’ Wealth Grows Amid Accusations Against Opponent

Kiggans’ net worth may have grown by millions in Congress

Virginia Rep. Jen Kiggans’ Financial Growth Under Scrutiny

Virginia Representative Jen Kiggans has seen a notable increase in her financial standing since entering Congress in 2023, as revealed by her personal finance reports. These disclosures indicate a potential growth in her net worth, which now stands between $400,000 and $6.1 million higher than when she was elected.

When Kiggans was elected to Congress in 2022, her financial filings reflected a net worth of up to $2.9 million. Her most recent reports, filed in August, show that her net worth could be as high as $7.5 million, marking a significant increase within a short period.

This financial development complicates Kiggans’ political narrative, especially given her previous criticisms of her Democratic rival, former Representative Elaine Luria. Kiggans has frequently accused Luria of amassing wealth during her tenure in office. The two political figures, having contested in 2022, are set for another electoral face-off this year.

In contrast, Luria’s financial situation appears more stable. Upon joining Congress in 2019, Luria’s net worth was reported to range from $3.7 million to $13.6 million. By the time she departed, her net worth estimates were between $3.4 million and $12.9 million.

Despite Kiggans’ allegations that Luria’s wealth increased by $21 million during her time in office, these claims lack clear evidence. In fact, the alleged amount exceeds the maximum financial gain Luria could have realistically achieved, raising questions about the source of Kiggans’ information.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Fox News recently had to correct a report that inaccurately stated Luria’s net worth experienced a significant surge while she was in office.

The political rivalry between Kiggans and Luria continues to unfold as they vie for representation of Virginia’s 2nd District, which encompasses Virginia Beach. The competitive nature of their race is underscored by a House Majority PAC poll from July, which indicated a tie between the candidates.

The original report on Kiggans’ financial status was first published on American Journal News.
