US Commerce Dept. Infuses $1.5M into Conway, Arkansas for Manufacturing Growth

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $637,147 to Support Disaster Resiliency and Economic Growth in San Jose, California

The U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, has announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) will award a $1.5 million grant to Conway, Arkansas, for water and sewer infrastructure improvements. The grant forms part of the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to strengthen and make communities more resilient across the country.

The funds will be used to support the growth of manufacturing businesses at Conway Industrial Park, improve fire flow for city residents, and back additional redevelopment projects. The EDA’s investment will be matched with $2.1 million in local funds, suggesting a strong commitment from local authorities to the development of the region.

Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo stated that the investment will facilitate significant upgrades to Conway’s water and sewer infrastructure, creating a foundation for sustainable regional economic growth. She framed the investment as part of the larger commitment of the Biden-Harris administration to strengthen communities across the country.

Alejandra Y. Castillo, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development, added that the project would support business growth and public safety, create jobs, and strengthen the regional economy. Other officials, including Senator John Boozman and Representative French Hill (AR-02), also expressed their satisfaction with the EDA’s investment in Conway, highlighting the city’s rapid growth and the importance of adequate infrastructure for economic development.
