RailRiders to rebrand AAA baseball franchise for 2027 season, with fall unveiling set

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders to Embrace New Identity

As the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders prepare for a major transformation, fans are eagerly awaiting an announcement that promises a fresh identity for the AAA New York Yankees affiliate stationed in Moosic. The team is scheduled to unveil its new branding in November, ahead of the 2027 season.

“This rebrand is about building an identity that our community can rally around for generations to come,” stated team President and General Manager Shawn Reilly in a recent release.

The forthcoming identity aims to celebrate the unique characteristics and heritage of Northeastern Pennsylvania, enhancing the connection between the club, its community, and the iconic New York Yankees franchise. While the name and logo will change, the team’s commitment to providing memorable experiences at PNC Field remains steadfast.

The team’s journey began in 1989 as the Red Barons, affiliating with the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2007, the team aligned with the Yankees, adopting the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees moniker before transitioning to the RailRiders in 2013.

According to Reilly, “As we looked toward the future of baseball in NEPA, we saw an opportunity to create something that is deeply rooted in this region while honoring the incredible tradition of baseball that has defined this franchise for decades. We’re excited to share what’s next with our fans.”

Further updates are anticipated as the team approaches its official rebranding event.
