The Little League Baseball World Series is set to captivate fans in North Central Pennsylvania as it enters its 79th year. The event will draw 20 teams and thousands of visitors worldwide to the birthplace of Little League baseball in Williamsport.
According to Brian McClintock, senior communications executive at Little League International, preparations are well underway with more than half of the teams already arriving in Lycoming County. “We’re counting down the days,” McClintock said.
Participants include 10 national and 10 international teams with players aged 10 to 12, all vying for the title of world champions. Williamsport Mayor Derek Slaughter emphasized the economic significance, stating the event generates approximately $40 million for the state’s economy.
The tournament, featuring 38 games, will take place at the Little League International Complex, with games at Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Little League Volunteer Stadium. Slaughter noted the event’s role in promoting economic development and global recognition for Williamsport. “It’s an event that happens for those two weeks, but it’s really part of who we are as a community,” he said.
McClintock highlighted the inclusive nature of the series, calling it “one of the most heartwarming events in all of sports.” This year, Curaçao will receive direct entry into the competition for the first time.
The series will culminate with the International Championship and United States Championship on Saturday, Aug. 29, followed by the LLBWS Championship Game on Sunday, Aug. 30. For the complete schedule, click here.
Event Logistics
- Admission to the games is free.
- Most games do not require tickets, with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. However, limited seating is available for certain games, and digital ticketing is in place for select events.
- The complex opens at 10 a.m. most days, closing an hour post the final game. Exceptions apply as outlined here.
- Permitted bags include clear bags, small purses, and medically necessary bags. Early arrival is advised due to security checks.
- Parking is complimentary near the complex, and a new shuttle service offers transportation from downtown parking areas.

Beyond the games, several activities are scheduled:
- The Grand Slam Parade, celebrating its 20th year, starts on Tuesday, Aug. 18, welcoming the series teams.
- The Opening Ceremony is set for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Volunteer Stadium.
- The MLB Little League Classic featuring the Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves will be televised on ESPN.
- Williamsport Welcomes the World, a street festival, takes place on Friday, Aug. 28, with entertainment and vendors.
- The Challenger Division Exhibition Game occurs on Saturday, Aug. 29, featuring teams from Pennsylvania and California.
- The World of Little League Museum is open daily, showcasing baseball artifacts and offering official merchandise.
