Overtime Irregularities Prompt Investigation in Lackawanna County
An internal investigation has been launched concerning potential overtime irregularities involving two deputy sheriffs in Lackawanna County, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The sources, who requested anonymity, confirmed the ongoing review. County Solicitor Paul James Walker acknowledged the investigation through a text message on Friday but refrained from providing further details, citing the inappropriateness of additional comments at this stage.
District Attorney Brian Gallagher and Sheriff Mark P. McAndrew have both opted not to comment on the matter. The sheriff mentioned that his solicitor advised against making any statements, labeling the issue as a “personnel matter.” McAndrew neither confirmed nor denied whether the issue had been referred for further investigation or if any action had been taken against the deputies involved.
McAndrew stated, “You’ll hear from me down the road, but at this time I can’t comment.”
For now, WVIA News has chosen not to disclose the identities of the deputies as no formal charges have been filed against them.
