Urgent: Thousands of Voters in Triad and High Country Need Registration Updates
As the fall elections approach, a significant number of residents in the Triad and High Country areas are at risk of not having their votes counted unless they update their voter registration details soon. Recent court rulings have prompted the North Carolina State Board of Elections to urge nearly 14,000 voters in Forsyth, Guilford, and Watauga counties to comply with new requirements.
According to the latest data, compliance remains low. In Forsyth County, only 40% of voters have updated their registration, while the numbers drop to 28% in both Guilford and Watauga counties. This leaves approximately 9,200 voters across these regions who need to provide either their driver’s license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number to ensure their records are complete.
The state has implemented the Registration Repair Project to facilitate these updates. Voters can make the necessary changes online, by mail, or by visiting their county board of elections office in person. For those who fail to update their information before Election Day, casting a provisional ballot will be required.
To verify their registration status, voters are encouraged to visit the North Carolina State Board of Elections’ official website.
