National Guard Mobilized in Winston-Salem Amid Winter Storm Warnings
As Winston-Salem braces for an approaching winter storm, the city has called in reinforcements from the North Carolina National Guard. Four vehicles have been dispatched to assist local emergency services in managing the anticipated challenges posed by the severe weather conditions.
In a social media statement, city officials clarified that the presence of the National Guard is unrelated to any immigration enforcement activities. The statement emphasized that the deployment is strictly for supporting the city’s police and fire departments with emergency and public safety tasks.
This move to enhance local preparedness comes shortly after a separate incident involving federal law enforcement. In Minneapolis, federal border patrol agents were involved in a fatal shooting, marking the second such incident in recent weeks. While unrelated, the timing of these events has heightened public awareness and concern.
