False Police Report Leads to Charges Against Local Woman
A young woman is facing legal consequences after a fabricated account of an assault. Twenty-six-year-old Kaitlyn Mackenzie Bryant has been charged with both felony obstruction of justice and a misdemeanor for filing a false police report.
According to Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough, the allegations were thoroughly investigated using interviews, technological methods, and DNA analysis, all of which debunked Bryant’s claims.
Bryant, who is awaiting her court appearance scheduled for August 20, was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond. Her initial report, which she made over a month ago, claimed that she was attacked by a man while jogging in a local park, prompting an extensive police search.
Authorities revealed in a press conference that the investigation into Bryant’s claims incurred costs exceeding $46,000.
