Guilford Co. Approves Land Easement for Controversial Pipeline Project

Guilford County approves land easement agreement for pipeline project

Guilford County Greenlights Controversial Pipeline Easement

In a move that has sparked both support and opposition, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners has given the nod to a land easement for a debated pipeline initiative. The project, known as Transco’s Southeast Supply Enhancement, aims to lay a 28-mile methane gas pipeline traversing the Triad region.

With the intention of meeting rising energy demands, the pipeline is set to pass beneath a section of Triad Park. As part of the agreement, Transco is committed to restoring any park facilities disrupted during the construction. The easement also grants temporary access to the company for the duration of the project.

Last month, the initiative received approval from the federal regulatory commission, despite ongoing apprehensions from environmental groups. These advocates are concerned about potential adverse effects on the community’s air and water quality.

Construction is slated to begin in March, with Transco estimating a completion time of up to 120 days.
