Forsyth County Supports Hemp Manufacturer’s Move to Winston-Salem

Forsyth backs grant bid for hemp company considering Winston-Salem move

Hemp Manufacturer Eyes Winston-Salem for New Headquarters

The prospect of a hemp product manufacturer relocating to Winston-Salem has received a nod from Forsyth County leaders. W.H. Farms Company, known for producing hemp-based wellness and cosmetic products, is seeking to establish its headquarters in a currently unoccupied building in the city.

In a recent decision, the Board of Commissioners approved the company’s application for a $400,000 state grant. This financial support would facilitate the company’s move, which could potentially lead to the creation of around 40 new jobs and an increase of $120,000 in tax revenue over the next ten years.

Initially, Commissioner Gray Wilson expressed reservations about the nature of the products, remarking, “One person’s wellness is another one’s poison.” However, upon confirmation that the products comply with FDA regulations, Wilson cast his vote in favor of the initiative.

The relocation of W.H. Farms Company to Winston-Salem promises economic benefits for the local area, aligning with county officials’ goals to boost employment and generate significant tax contributions.
