Forsyth County Sells Former Hall of Justice to Local Pharmacy for $2.6M

Forsyth County’s Hall of Justice Finds New Purpose with Local Pharmacy’s Acquisition

The historic Hall of Justice building in Winston-Salem is set to gain a new lease on life. Forsyth County’s Board of Commissioners has confirmed the sale of the former courthouse to Med Solutions Compounding Pharmacy for $2.6 million.

Med Solutions, known for creating tailor-made medications, plans to repurpose the iconic structure into a mixed-use development. The revamped facility will feature office spaces, retail outlets, and, naturally, a pharmacy.

Although the sale price falls $3 million short of the county’s original asking price, Commissioner Dan Besse endorsed the transaction. He remarked, “I think this is our best opportunity to get value out of the property, and that we should take it.” The building has remained unused since the courts vacated the premises earlier in 2023.

There’s also discussion among commissioners about utilizing the funds from the sale for community development. Potential initiatives include programs for first-time home buyers and home repairs, but no definitive plans have been cemented as of yet.
