Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Election Draws Multiple Candidates
The race for seats on the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is gaining momentum as candidate filing opens, with several contenders already in the mix for the upcoming election.
Currently, eight individuals have submitted their candidacy, including incumbents Tonya McDaniel and Dan Besse, representing District A and an at-large position, respectively. McDaniel stands as the sole candidate for District A at this early stage.
The competition for the at-large seat is heating up, with Besse facing opposition from Democrat Quamekia Shavers and Republicans Mike Barresi and Terri Mrazek. Notably, Mrazek has previously sought this position in the 2020, 2022, and 2024 elections but was unsuccessful.
District B sees a three-way contest with Republican Chris Parker and Democrats Adam Hill and Marsie West, the latter of whom is attempting a second bid after an unsuccessful 2024 campaign.
The filing period remains open until December 19, providing additional time for more candidates to enter the fray.
