Conservation Efforts Secure Over 100 Acres in Davidson County

In a significant move towards environmental preservation, more than 100 acres of farmland and forest near Abbotts Creek in Davidson County have been safeguarded against future development. This initiative aims to maintain the natural beauty and ecological integrity of the area.

A conservation easement has been established on the 130-acre site by Three Rivers Land Trust. This protected land features over half a mile of creek-side territory and encompasses 56 acres of bottomland hardwood forest. By implementing this easement, the trust seeks to ensure the preservation of vital wildlife habitats and to support the water quality of Abbotts Creek and the larger Yadkin River Basin.

While the land remains under private ownership, this protective measure highlights a collaborative effort to maintain natural resources. The project has received financial backing from the North Carolina General Assembly, underscoring the importance of state support in conservation initiatives.
