In a mere month, Washoe County has been battered by three significant wildfires: the Bug Fire, Fred Mountain Fire, and the latest, Hawk Fire. These disasters have compelled the evacuation of tens of thousands, with 58 homes destroyed and another 10 rendered uninhabitable.
Governor Joe Lombardo has initiated an executive order directing the Nevada Housing Division to allocate funds to the City of Reno. This financial support aims to assist affected residents with rental assistance and short-term housing expenses.
Governor Lombardo emphasized, “The recovery process will take time, but the State of Nevada will be there every step of the way.”
Funding will be sourced from the Nevada Attainable Housing Account, a fund established by Assembly Bill 540.
