Journalists Gain New Insights in Washington D.C. Fellowship

In late September, a group of journalists, including Lucia Starbuck, traveled to Washington, D.C., to engage with public health experts. The training spanned several days and covered topics such as the application of AI in healthcare, the tracking of the Rural Health Transformation Program, and the history of social safety nets in the United States.

Lucia Starbuck, who was among the 26 journalists chosen for this healthcare fellowship, expressed enthusiasm about the experience. She noted,

“Being part of a small but mighty public radio station, I’m always eager to grow my skills through trainings like this and expand my perspective. I’m very interested in the intersections of health and politics, and now I have so many more story ideas I can’t wait to report for KUNR.”

This fellowship aimed to inspire new story ideas and furnish participants with credible sources, enhancing their ability to report on healthcare-related topics.
