Federal Immigration Activities Reported at Reno-Tahoe Airport
Recent federal immigration activities have taken place at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, according to information provided by the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA). The announcement confirmed that Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) had conducted operations on the premises.
RTAA acknowledged that they lack detailed insights into the specific nature of the ICE operations. While they do not directly assist with federal activities, they coordinate with ICE to minimize any potential disruption to airport operations and passenger travel.
Federal agents possess extensive authority to enter and perform duties at airports, and the RTAA Police Department is unable to restrict these operations. This aligns with a statement from a Department of Homeland Security official, who told CNN that efforts are ongoing to prevent non-compliant immigrants from boarding flights unless it is for self-deportation purposes.
