The South Lake Tahoe City Council Welcomes New Member Amidst Leadership Transition

Amidst a period of leadership transition, the South Lake Tahoe City Council has welcomed a new member to its ranks. Heather Horgan has been appointed to the council, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of former Mayor Tamara Wallace in October. Horgan’s appointment was confirmed during the council’s meeting on Tuesday, and she has already begun serving her term, which extends until December 2026.

Horgan brings a wealth of experience to the council, currently working as an administrative nursing supervisor and actively volunteering with various organizations throughout the Tahoe region. Her addition to the council comes at a crucial time as the city continues to tackle significant community issues, and her presence restores the council to its full capacity.

In other council news, the decision to appoint a new mayor and mayor pro tem for the 2026 term has been postponed until January. Until then, Cody Bass will maintain his role as the current mayor, ensuring continuity in leadership during this transitional phase.
