Danna O’Connor Inducted into Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame

Celebrating a career that spans nearly four decades, Danna O’Connor, a dedicated broadcaster and host at KUNR, has achieved a significant milestone. In September 2026, she was honored with an induction into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame, a testament to her enduring impact in the field.

Born in Elko and having grown up in Winnemucca, O’Connor’s broadcasting journey began in Utah. Her passion for radio eventually brought her back to Nevada, where she settled in Carson City.

O’Connor’s tenure at KUNR started in 1995 when she took on the role of a weekend announcer. By 1997, she was hosting jazz segments and eventually became the voice many listeners associated with the Morning Edition from 2008 until 2018. She then transitioned to become the local host of All Things Considered in the afternoons. Beyond her on-air roles, O’Connor has been instrumental in managing various operational and programming initiatives essential to KUNR’s success.

In a conversation with KUNR’s general manager, Brian Duggan, O’Connor shared insights into what has motivated her long-standing commitment to the station:

“I found public radio, and I said, ‘this is the format I would really love to spend my time in.’ It’s interesting, it’s intriguing. It attracts great, interesting people, listeners, and co-workers — everybody. So, having a job in a format that I love was just a total blessing for the past 30 years.

I’m so proud to be able to support my colleagues here at KUNR as well as the community of public radio listeners out there — you’re wonderful people. I’ve really enjoyed working with you and for you. I love being able to spread information, good and bad, to let people know what’s going on.”

The Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame is known for recognizing dedication and talent in broadcasting. O’Connor was one of 29 broadcasters inducted during the 2026 ceremony, each representing a unique contribution to the industry.
