Pete Buttigieg to Campaign for Denise Powell in Omaha Event July 14

Pete Buttigieg to campaign in Omaha for Denise Powell in CD2 race

Amid growing anticipation in Nebraska’s political landscape, Pete Buttigieg is set to visit Omaha in mid-July to campaign alongside Denise Powell. The former U.S. transportation secretary and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate is making a series of appearances to support Democratic candidates across the nation.

Denise Powell, the Democratic contender for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, announced the upcoming event on her social media platform. Scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, the event begins at noon with doors opening at 11:15 a.m. However, the exact venue remains a mystery, as event organizers plan to reveal the location just a day before.

This marks Powell’s first significant campaign event since she won the Democratic nomination in May. She narrowly defeated John Cavanaugh, a fellow Democrat, in a closely contested primary marked by record-breaking political spending, intense negative ads, and significant dark-money donations.

Buttigieg’s support for Powell is part of his broader strategy to endorse Democratic candidates vying for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. His recent political tour included a stop in Little Rock, Arkansas, to support Chris Jones in his campaign for the state’s 2nd Congressional District. Earlier in May, he also made an appearance in Montana to back a proposed ballot measure aimed at restricting corporate donations in political campaigns, as reported by Montana Free Press.

Speculation is rife regarding Buttigieg’s potential bid for the presidency in the 2028 election. However, the Democrat has yet to confirm any plans to join the race.
