Nebraska Huskers Face Challenging Road Test Against Indiana
As the Nebraska men’s basketball team prepares for a significant matchup at Indiana, they aim to maintain their impressive momentum in a season filled with historic achievements.
The Huskers boast a 15-0 record, extending their winning streak to 19 games, which dates back to the previous season, setting a new school record. They currently hold the No. 10 spot in The Associated Press Top 25, marking their highest ranking in six decades.
Coach Fred Hoiberg shared insights on the team’s remarkable performance this season. He emphasized the importance of composure, saying, “I think the biggest thing is composure … and our guys have really done a good job of staying with it. When teams have gone on runs … there was no head hanging and once we got moving again, I was really pleased.” Hoiberg credited the team’s resilience and leadership, noting, “Our guys just keep swinging. They keep going. Even when things are looking a little bit dire out there on the floor … that’s a sign of great leadership.”
The upcoming challenge for Nebraska is a formidable one, as they face a 12-3 Indiana team that has secured victories in its last four games by significant margins. The Hoosiers, holding a 3-1 record in the Big Ten, have remained undefeated at home this season.
This weekend’s game represents only the third official away game for the Huskers, offering limited data on their road performance. Additionally, the team has participated in three games at neutral venues.
Coach Hoiberg highlighted the importance of early leads in away games, which have served as a strategic advantage for the Cornhuskers. “One thing we’ve been very fortunate with is … we’ve gotten off to good starts on the road,” Hoiberg noted. “We built a 14-point lead at Illinois, at Ohio State, and then you have a cushion when a team does go on a run, which invariably will happen, especially when you’re playing in an opponent’s gym.”
The much-anticipated game is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on Saturday and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
