Nebraska Athletics Secures $10.25M NIL Deal with Playfly Sports

Head football coach Matt Rhule says NIL agreement will be a 'huge recruiting differentiator'

Nebraska Athletics Boosted by Major NIL Deal with Playfly Sports

In a significant move set to reshape recruitment dynamics, Nebraska football’s head coach Matt Rhule highlighted a transformative agreement involving name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights. This development is expected to provide a substantial advantage for the team.

Playfly Sports Properties, LLC, the multimedia rights partner for the Huskers, has pledged a considerable $10.25 million toward NIL initiatives at Nebraska Athletics. As part of this commitment, $8 million is slated to be distributed before June, following approval from the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

Rhule emphasized the impact of this investment, stating, “That is a huge recruiting differentiator for us moving forward.” He further noted that Nebraska offers talented athletes the chance to earn money, while also valuing their character.

Coinciding with the approval of the Playfly agreement, the 1890 Nebraska collective revealed plans to cease its operations. This decision is influenced by the House v. NCAA settlement, commonly referred to as the House settlement, which complicates collective NIL agreements, according to Rhule.
