560+ Acres in Northwest Lincoln Optioned for Solar, Data Center Use

Another data center developer is eyeing land just outside of Lincoln

Expansion of Solar and Data Center Developments in Northwest Lincoln

In a significant development for Lancaster County, more than 560 acres on the outskirts of Northwest Lincoln have been optioned by a Nevada-based solar and data center developer. This marks the latest in a series of strategic land acquisitions by data centers in the area, as confirmed by records reviewed by Nebraska Public Media News.

Recent trends indicate a growing interest in the region, with notable projects like the Monolith and Stark Power data centers near Hallam, and the Google data center, which is operational but still under construction near Interstate 80 and North 56th Street.

The latest land option involves Larry Coffey of Lincoln, who has entered into an agreement with “Coffee Grounds Data LLC.” Despite the ambiguous company name, the option document identifies Ricardo Graf, the chief development officer for Arevia Power, as a key figure in the transaction.

This pattern mirrors a similar land option in Mayes County, Oklahoma, where “Rock Creek Land & Cattle” optioned land to “Rock Creek Data LLC,” with Graf’s involvement noted there as well.

Arevia Power, primarily known as a utility-scale solar developer, has been expanding into data center projects. Notably, the company is behind a proposed 3,700-acre data center near Boise, Idaho, through its subsidiary, Rhea Data, which aims to establish Idaho’s largest data center with a capacity of approximately 600 megawatts.

Larry Coffey confirmed to Nebraska Public Media News that he was approached earlier this year about his land for potential data center use. Graf, in a statement to the media outlet, mentioned that “Coffee Grounds Data LLC” is in the midst of an “early-stage site diligence process” for the property.

“Given how preliminary everything is, there isn’t much additional project-specific information we can responsibly provide at this point,” Graf stated, emphasizing that a concrete development plan has yet to be formulated.
