Trevor Phillips stumbled upon a dumpster overflowing with flowers three years ago, a moment that unknowingly marked the beginning of a delightful journey.
When Trevor shared this surprising find with a neighbor, they suggested, “You should take them to a nursing home.”

Inspired by the suggestion, Trevor collected the salvaged flowers and visited a nearby senior living facility, gifting the blooms to residents. The impact was immediate, with smiles spreading across many faces.
“I just felt so fulfilled, thinking about all the people smiling,” he recounted.
Trevor’s act of kindness quickly gained attention. A local florist contacted him with an offer to provide unsold flowers whenever their coolers were cleared. With an increased supply, Trevor established Flower the People, a volunteer effort dedicated to delivering floral joy to seniors.
From a modest gesture of goodwill, Flower the People has blossomed into a significant movement.
Now, the initiative reaches over 40 senior living facilities in three cities. Florists, volunteers, and local businesses rally together, contributing time, flowers, and resources to uplift seniors who may rarely have visitors.
Reflecting on his experiences, Trevor said, “When I get back [from delivering], it just reminds me of what’s important.”
