During a call to address a medical emergency, Officer Maguire uncovered that the family was grappling with dual challenges as both parents were suffering from severe health issues.

Deeply touched, Officer Maguire rallied her colleagues at the police department, leading to a collective effort including personal contributions and support from the Berkley Patrolman’s Association, to prepare a holiday care package, ensuring the family experienced some relief during Thanksgiving.

“It is acts like these that truly exemplify the dedication and compassion of the officers working in our police department,” stated Chief Christopher Baker in a statement. “I am proud to have Officer Maguire as a member of our team, and I am grateful for her willingness to go above and beyond in serving our community.”

Chief Baker further urged the Berkley community to adopt the spirit of generosity throughout the holiday period by engaging in random acts of kindness.

“As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I would like to encourage all residents of Berkley to take a moment each day to help one another with random acts of kindness. Together, we can make a positive impact on those around us and create a stronger, more caring community.”
