Local School Celebrates Alumni’s Journey to the Super Bowl
In a small Pennsylvania town, the halls of Lakeland School District echo with excitement as students prepare to cheer for one of their own. CJ Dippre, who once roamed these corridors as a student, is now stepping onto the Super Bowl field with the New England Patriots. The anticipation is palpable among young fans who see Dippre’s journey as a testament to hard work and perseverance.
Second-grade classes are buzzing with activity as students color Patriots-themed decorations, all in support of Dippre’s big game. Teachers emphasize the life lessons that Dippre’s determination offers, inspiring students to pursue their own dreams with dedication.
“The support is huge… I walked through the same halls; it’s not like anything changed,” said 23-year-old Dippre in a pre-recorded message to students. His journey from local athlete to NFL player serves as an encouragement for the students to stay committed to their goals.
CJ Dippre: A Life Committed to Football
Growing up in a sports-oriented family, Dippre’s passion for football started early. His father, Chris Dippre, played college football, setting a precedent that CJ followed with vigor. As a Junior Chief, Dippre led his team to several victories, showcasing his skills as both a quarterback and a tight end. His high school career boasted impressive stats, including over 2,181 passing yards and 18 touchdowns.

After graduating in 2021, Dippre attended the University of Maryland before transferring to the University of Alabama, where he played a pivotal role in their SEC Championship victory. Although he went undrafted, the Patriots saw potential and signed him as a free agent.
Despite starting on the practice squad, Dippre’s hard work paid off when he advanced to the 53-man roster. He has participated in key games, assisting his team both on and off the field.
The Dippre Family: A Legacy of Football
The Dippre family is deeply rooted in football, with CJ’s younger brother, Lacota, also making strides in the sport. Lacota, a standout player at James Madison University, recently transferred to the University of Florida to continue his football journey.

For the Dippre parents, Chris and Julie, watching their sons excel in football is a source of immense pride. As lifelong Steelers fans, supporting the Patriots is a new experience, but one they gladly embrace for their sons’ successes.
Inspiring the Next Generation
The impact of Dippre’s journey extends beyond his family. Students across the Lakeland district are inspired by his achievements. Senior Gavin Roberts remembers looking up to Dippre as a role model, while junior Chase Rosenkrans sees Dippre as proof that “even a small-town athlete can make it big.”

“Seeing someone from a small area make such big things happen is really encouraging,” added junior Anneliese Pepson. The community’s enthusiasm is evident as the school celebrates Dippre’s achievements with spirit days and creative activities.
Cheering for a Hometown Hero
In classrooms, football memorabilia lines the walls, including helmets from Dippre’s career and cutouts of his number 82 jersey. His uncle, Edward Naniewicz, a teacher at Lakeland, uses CJ’s story to motivate students to pursue their dreams.

As the day of the big game arrives, students gather to chant and cheer for Dippre. Even those who usually support other teams find themselves rallying behind their hometown hero, eager to witness his Super Bowl moment.
