In a notable increase from previous years, voter participation reached approximately 23% in the recent municipal elections held in Buncombe County’s Weaverville and Woodfin. This turnout surpassed the 2023 municipal election numbers, with 2,702 ballots cast compared to 1,891 previously, as confirmed by county officials.
Corinne Duncan, Director of Buncombe County Election Services, remarked, “The Weaverville/Woodfin/Woodfin Water & Sewer District elections are small compared to other elections in Buncombe County and we have seen continued growth in voter turnout.”
Across Western North Carolina, residents took to the polls to elect mayors and town council members in various municipalities, while some opted to retain their current leaders. The following are provisional winners from each county, pending official validation by county election officials scheduled for November 14.
