In a remarkable display of community spirit, seven high school students from Massachusetts stepped in to assist a woman whose vehicle stalled on a bustling highway. The incident occurred when Robin Gay, returning from her volunteer duties at a local dance studio in Everett, found her car suddenly unresponsive amidst speeding traffic.

Feeling stranded and panicked, Gay feared for her safety as vehicles surged past. “Cars were literally flying, so I kind of went into a panic state,” Gay explained. “My biggest fear was somebody is going to hit me.”
The young students, witnessing the distressing situation, immediately intervened. Collaborating efficiently, they maneuvered Gay’s car to safety, with one student expertly directing the surrounding traffic. Gay managed the steering wheel as the teenagers pushed her vehicle to a nearby parking area.
Grateful for their selfless gesture, Gay attempted to offer the students money as a token of appreciation, but they declined. Instead, the students opted for a heartfelt hug, emphasizing their genuine concern for her well-being. “They just refused; they were pushing my hand away, they were like, ‘Absolutely not,’” Gay recounted. “To them, it was like, ‘We’re really glad that you’re safe.’”
The students attributed their actions to the values instilled in them. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t know the person; if you know the person. If you see someone in trouble, just go help,” stated senior Emmanuel Lerbout.
For Gay, the students’ actions were profoundly impactful. “The impact they had, it was just unbelievable,” she reflected. “You don’t realize what people are going through. The littlest things make a difference, and hopefully, the kindness keeps spreading.”
